Because, this summer, there’s nothing like a book that chills. 

Join us for a panel event featuring four fantastic writers of the macabre and ghoulish where we will discuss thrilling and gothic literature and the writing process. This event is the introduction to a series of writing workshops that we will be subsequently hosting here at DRAKE the Bookshop throughout the rest of 2025.

Our guest authors are:

  • H.F. Askwith, darkly fantastical YA author of A Dark Inheritance and A Cruel Twist of Fate.
  • Lauren Wilson, debut author of YA thriller, The Goldens.
  • Jessie Elland, author of femgore gothic, The Ladie Upstairs.
  • C.G. Hatton, speculative fiction author and publishing professional.

Tickets are FREE but LIMITED, so please book your place in advance.

We offer a ticketless booking system. Please select ‘Collect from shop’ option at the checkout to avoid carriage fees. You will receive an email confirming your booking and all you need to do is give your name at the welcome desk on the night.
